This visit was for my mother to see her brother who she hasn't seen in twenty-eight years. This was also my first trip to Dallas-Fort Worth and I knew we would spend more time among each other than doing the touristy things.
While waiting for my uncle to come to the hotel, we ate lunch at the hotel's restaurant, Sportman's Club Bar & Grill, then went back upstairs and relaxed a bit. After my uncle's visit, we had dinner at Uncle Buck's Brewery and Steakhouse.
The next day was spent at my uncle's place where we had a home cooked meal. My two cousins came and we had a great time getting to know one another.
We drove around Fort-Worth, stopping at the Water Garden. Then we drove into Dallas and drove by the road that JFK was on when he was assassinated, saw the grassy knoll, saw the book depository where Oswald took the shot; went to the Dallas Museum of Art, saw the Dallas Symphony, Dallas Arboretum, American Airlines Center - Home of the Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Stars; Texas Stadium - Home of the Dallas Cowboys and the new one being built. We drove by Six Flags Hurricane Harbor. We drove through Deep Ellum, West End, Arts District and then we drove through one area where they have some very nice palatial homes. In Fort Worth, we went to the Water Garden. Overall, we had a great time and plan to visit more often than in the past.
