Leaf Peeping in Vermont
October 11 - October 14, 1996

As a city gal, when fall comes and the leaves turns color, it's just a season change, but for others, it's an event known as "Leaf Peeping". One of our fellow PPers invited one and all to stay at her place and enjoy the magnificent view of the leaves changing. So off to another PPer reunion.

The "Traveling Trio" made the trip to South Burlington, VT. This was a smaller group than the previous three reunions that I've attended. We came from California, New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Florida.

As usual, we chatted, ate, drank and had fun. One of the fun things we did was put tacky ornaments on our hostess' front lawn while she was out. It was fun to see the look on her face when she drove up her driveway and saw a sequined fish, an Edmund/Maria frog thingy, a pinwheel, whirly thingy, a swan with dead flowers and a frog with "Hi and Bye" staring at her on her lawn. We had a good laugh over that.

The next day we went to a Crafts Fair at Stowe where we saw several demonstrations, such as a wooden bowl being made from a clump of wood, a chair being caned and etchings.

After the craft fair, it was off to alpine skiing. Where? up the mountain, way up there. :::shaking head::::no way::::: Of course, I was being told that we had to jump in the chair lift and jump off of them once we reach the top. I didn't want to go after that, but saw little kids going so I was going to be brave about it. It seem like it took a long time to go up the mountain but we finally made it. Then the inevitable, we had to slide down the mountain. I think my heart was racing but I was determined to do this. Everyone went before me so I was the only one left up on that mountain, all by myself. I went down fine until that first curve, all I could hear was my head saying "when do we stop". I finally got to the bottom and quickly exited the slide. Overall, it was fun and I may do it again. After sliding down the mountain, a few went hiking. I stayed on the bottom. Hey, going down the mountain was enough for this city girl :).

The following day, we had brunch at Shelbourne Inn which overlooks Lake Champlain. This place is beautiful and they have a working farm and a petting farm on the premise. Afterwards, we also the Vermont Teddy Bear Factory.
